Privacy Policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
In short: your recipes and your family's details live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account. Forkd has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell anything about you. When you use a Forkd Pro feature, the part it needs is sent to our AI provider to get the answer, and isn't kept by us.
Forkd is made by Forkd Labs, a small business in Adelaide, South Australia ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Forkd iPhone app and the forkd.food website.
What stays with you
Everything you put into Forkd is stored on your iPhone and synced through your own private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. That includes:
- your recipes, your versions of them, photos and notes
- your family members' names, dietary needs, allergies and goals
- your meal plans, shopping lists, cooking history and settings
This data is held in your iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy. Forkd Labs can't see it or access it.
When you save a recipe from a website, your iPhone fetches the page directly. No one else is involved.
When you use Forkd Pro
Forkd Pro features are powered by Forkie, Forkd's AI helper. To give you an answer, the app sends what that feature needs, through our server, to our AI provider, Anthropic. Depending on the feature, that can include:
- the recipe's text, or a photo or screenshot of it, or the text of a web page
- your family's dietary needs, allergies and goals, so the answer suits them
- what Forkie has learnt about your household, such as notes you've given it and how your family rated recent dinners. You can see it in Settings › What Forkie has learnt, and names are replaced with "Diner 1", "Diner 2" and so on before it's sent
- the ingredients on your plan or shopping list
Our server passes AI requests on and returns the answer. It doesn't store what you send. Anthropic processes it to produce the answer, and under its commercial terms it doesn't use it to train its models. It may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
Only send information you're comfortable sharing this way. You choose when to use these features, and Forkd works without them.
Subscriptions
Apple handles payment for Forkd Pro. We never see your card or payment details. To check that a subscription is active, the app sends our server the subscription's transaction number, which our server checks with Apple. We also keep a count of how many Pro requests each subscription makes, to apply fair-use limits. These counts are deleted automatically within about five weeks. Our server also remembers for up to six hours whether a subscription is active, so it doesn't have to ask Apple every time.
When you send us feedback
If you use Report a problem or Suggest an idea in the app, we receive:
- your message, and your email address if you give one for a reply
- any screenshots you choose to attach
- the app version, the iOS version and iPhone model, the screen you were on, whether you have Forkd Pro, and a random identifier for this installation of the app
- for an error report, the error message
To stop abuse, our server counts reports per installation and per IP address for one day, then deletes the count. Reports are emailed to us and kept on our server for 90 days, then deleted. We keep emails for as long as we need them to help you. We use feedback only to fix problems and improve Forkd.
The website
forkd.food has no cookies, analytics or tracking. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes basic technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
Who else handles information
- Apple: iCloud storage, App Store purchases and subscriptions.
- Cloudflare: runs our server and website, and sends feedback emails to us.
- Anthropic: provides the AI behind Forkd Pro.
These providers may process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We share information with them only to run Forkd. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
Children
Forkd is meant to be used by adults planning meals for their household. Details about children, such as a name or an allergy, are entered by a parent or carer and stay in that family's iCloud, except as described above when a Pro feature is used.
Your choices
- You can view, change or delete anything in the app at any time.
- To remove all of Forkd's data from iCloud, open Settings › your name › iCloud, go to your iCloud storage and delete Forkd's data there.
- To ask about, correct or delete feedback you've sent us, email dev@forkd.food.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, contact us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how your information is used in a significant way, we'll tell you in the app.
